Are your items waterproof?

Our leather isn’t waterproof—but it is water‑resistant. A light splash won’t do harm, but it’s best to avoid full submersion. If it gets wet, dry naturally (away from heat), then apply the leather balm. Brass hardware is corrosion-resistant. Rope leads won't be damaged but the leather detailing won't like it. If you get your rope muddy then a soft bristled brush with warm water and non harsh dish soap will do the job.

How long do orders take to dispatch?

As a large element of these items are made to order please allow 3-5 days for dispatch. We like to get it right first time.

What are growth marks?

Our leather is one of the highest qualitiy leathers available and is what is referred to as FULL-GRAIN. This means that the leather sometimes has visible growth marks from the animal. Personally i think, the more growth marks, the more personality the piece has, as it's evident that it's the highest quality full-grain leather in it's most natural and unprocessed form. If you'd like fewer, or more, please let us know in special requests.

How does the leather and brass age over time?

Like a well‑loved jacket or pair of leather boots. The leather softens and develops a beautiful patina whilst darkening in colour. Brass hardware can be polished back to its former shine using a little brass polish.

My dog pulls a lot—will coloured leather fade?

For regular pullers, we advise choosing the darker chestnut option rather than dyed or lighter shades (such as leaf green or tan), as dye may fade under repeated strain. Heavy duty pullers collars will age much quicker due to the natural oils being squeezed out due to prolonged pressure.

Will the colour fade over time?

Yes, some gentle fading is part of the charm - especially with our naturally vegetable dyed leathers. Each collar and lead is designed to age elegantly with use. Exposure to sunlight, water, and oils from your dog’s coat will all contribute to a warm, lived-in patina over time. If you'd prefer a longer-lasting tone, we recommend our undyed or darker leathers.

How should I care for my Gentry gear?

Gently wipe leather with a slightly damp cloth - no soaking.

Air‑dry naturally, then nourish with the included balm using a soft cloth.

Apply a light layer of leather shoe protectant spray if you want to an added layer of protection.

Polish brass with care, keeping it away from leather and rope. We find Brasso works best.

What’s the standard lead length, and can I customise it?

Rope leads are 115 cm long as standard. If you'd like a different length just add your request in the checkout notes—we’re happy to tailor it. If you're going for a full leather lead then we're limited to the length of the hide which results in around the 115cm mark.

What comes with each order?

Every set includes: a personalised collar, lead (leather or cotton rope + brass), pot of leather balm, care guide, 100 % cotton branded storage bag and a lead storage keyring.
